Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Quantitative Manager, you will be at the forefront of developing and managing quantitative models that ensure best practices in Rating, Pricing, and Valuation within the financial sector. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing Quantitative Risk Models (e.g., Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, Exposure to Default) aligned with international standards.
  • Overseeing the Expected Credit Loss (ECL) models in compliance with IFRS 9.
  • Leading the validation and performance assessment of existing quantitative risk models.
  • Championing model innovation and researching new approaches to improve risk management.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and influencing portfolio reporting from a quantitative perspective.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-graduate qualifications in Quantitative disciplines (Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, etc.) with a Masters or Honors degree.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in risk modelling or a similar role, particularly within a financial institution.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL/SAS/Python and a solid understanding of the Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

2. Tax Specialist

Key Responsibilities

As a Tax Specialist at the IDC, you will provide expert tax advisory services, particularly in tax planning, equity/loan deal structuring, and cross-border investments across Africa. Your main duties will include:

  • Offering proactive tax strategies to optimize tax benefits for the IDC, focusing on both local and cross-border tax implications.
  • Advising on transfer pricing, tax incentives, and restructuring of investments.
  • Reviewing and liaising with external tax experts and auditors to ensure tax compliance.
  • Preparing proposals and discussion papers for tax efficiency and strategy for IDC committees and boards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • LLB or CA (SA) with a Higher Diploma or Master’s in taxation (desirable).
  • 8+ years of post-article experience in tax advisory, preferably within financial services or banking.
  • Experience in DFI (Development Finance Institutions), specifically restructuring, turnaround, and business rescue is essential.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities to navigate complex tax structures.
