Role Purpose
As an Asset Officer at ICASA, you will be responsible for managing the Authority’s fixed assets in line with ICASA’s Asset Management Policy and National Treasury Regulations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that asset management processes are followed correctly, from acquisitions to disposals.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Supervisor: Asset Management, the successful candidate will:
- Maintain and update the Microsoft assets database, tracking asset movements and locations.
- Liaise with various divisions regarding new acquisitions and asset movements.
- Compile and manage disposal schedules for assets and present them to the Disposal Committee.
- Perform bi-annual and annual asset verifications.
- Handle journal processing and assist with resolving Auditor General queries.
- Ensure that insurance-related updates are made in the insurance database when assets are reported stolen or missing.
- Support the Supervisor: Asset Management with regular reporting on asset activities.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Requirements: Higher Certificate in Accounting or equivalent (NQF Level 5).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in asset management.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database management. Sound knowledge of relevant acts, including PFMA, National Treasury Asset Management guides, and GRAP standards, is advantageous.

- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and coordination skills.
- Proactive, independent, and adaptable, with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Solid experience in asset management processes such as acquisitions, disposals, and verifications.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is essential.
