Public Programmes Coordinator – Indefinite Appointment
- Basic Salary: R456,325.38 per annum, plus benefits

As the Public Programmes Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in planning, organizing, and executing public programming that resonates with diverse audiences, all while ensuring that the museum’s mission and values are communicated effectively. You will also be responsible for contributing to community outreach initiatives, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and driving innovation in public engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Oversee the development and implementation of public programmes in line with the museum’s yearly plan. You will ensure that programmes are well-planned, organized, and prioritized.
- Stakeholder Relations: Cultivate and manage relationships with internal departments and external partners to enhance Iziko’s public offerings.
- Community Outreach & Audience Development: Help create programmes that engage diverse communities and audiences. Contribute to audience development strategies to expand Iziko’s reach.
- Educational Content Development: Contribute to the creation of public support materials for publication and online content. Work closely with the museum’s Advancement Department to enhance outreach efforts.
- Project Proposals & Reporting: Take charge of writing project proposals, reports, and concept development while managing risks effectively.
- Public Campaigns: Work on campaigns that engage the public and collaborate with various stakeholders to implement events and activities that align with Iziko’s educational mission.
Competencies & Skills Required:
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of one or more South African official languages will be a strong advantage.
- Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including risk management, and a solid understanding of public programming theories and practices.
- Leadership & People Management: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams, motivate people, and drive project success.
- Communication Skills: Public speaking and presentation skills are essential, as you will be engaging with diverse audiences.
- Financial Management: Ability to handle budgets and financial reporting related to public programmes and events.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and any project management software.
- Creative Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges effectively.
