Available Positions

The Department of Community Safety and Liaison is recruiting for a range of positions at various levels, offering competitive salaries and growth opportunities.

1. Director: Safety Research and Information Management

  • Salary: R1 216 824 per annum (All-inclusive package)
  • Location: Pietermaritzburg
  • Requirements: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in safety research and information management, a relevant degree, and knowledge of South African public service and police acts.
  • Key Responsibilities: Manage research and information services, assess police practices, and develop safety models for KZN.

2. Assistant Director: Crime Prevention and Partnerships

  • Salary: R552 081 per annum (Level 10)
  • Location: King Cetshwayo
  • Requirements: A 3-year diploma or degree in Social/Police Science with at least 3 years’ experience in crime prevention.
  • Key Responsibilities: Promote community-police relations, develop crime prevention initiatives, and manage partnerships with civil society organizations.

3. Assistant Director: Police Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Salary: R552 081 per annum (Level 10)
  • Location: uMzinyathi
  • Requirements: A degree or diploma in Social Sciences or Police Science, with 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation within the crime prevention sector.
  • Key Responsibilities: Evaluate police station performance, ensure compliance with policing policies, and address community complaints against the police.

4. Skills Development Facilitator

  • Salary: R444 036 per annum (Level 09)
  • Location: Pietermaritzburg
  • Requirements: A qualification in Human Resource Development or Management, with 3 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement skills development programs, coordinate HRD strategies, and manage the departmental learning database.

5. Work Study Analyst: Organisational Development and Job Evaluation

  • Salary: R376 413 per annum (Level 08)
  • Location: Pietermaritzburg
  • Requirements: A diploma in Production or Operations Management with relevant job evaluation experience.
  • Key Responsibilities: Conduct job evaluations, implement operational management practices, and advise on organisational design.

6. Administration Officer: Acquisition and Demand Management

  • Salary: R308 154 per annum (Level 07)
  • Location: Pietermaritzburg
  • Requirements: A diploma in Finance or Supply Chain Management, with 3 years of experience in procurement and asset management.
  • Key Responsibilities: Manage procurement processes, ensure compliance with SCM regulations, and oversee asset management and contract administration.

  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required for all positions unless otherwise specified.
  • Extended Working Hours: Applicants must be prepared to work extended hours as necessary.
