The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) is calling for applications for the role of Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer to join its Strategy, Business Development, and Governance Division. Salary Range: R484,691.56 to R570,225.37 per annum (all inclusive)

The Role

As the Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, you will be responsible for driving and overseeing the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of NMISA’s projects and strategic initiatives. Your role will involve collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic) and the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME), to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.

This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on managing complex processes and ensuring the effective implementation of strategies that drive organisational success.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Planning & Reporting:
    • Engage with relevant stakeholders (e.g., dtic, DPME) to submit plans, reports, and documents related to performance and progress.
    • Manage the Electronic Quarterly Performance Reporting System (eQPRS).
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets against strategic objectives and report progress accordingly.
  2. Performance Monitoring & Evaluation:
    • Collect, analyze, and verify performance data with Senior Managers and Programme Managers.
    • Analyze quarterly progress reports to identify areas for improvement.
    • Ensure that internal management practices comply with regulatory frameworks and performance reporting standards.
  3. Internal & External Audits:
    • Prepare performance information and evidence for audits, ensuring outcomes pass without major findings.
    • Address non-conformances raised during audits, resolving them within set timeframes.
  4. Coordination & Communication:
    • Serve as the central coordinator for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PME) information and ensure adherence to PME policies and procedures.
    • Provide feedback on performance reports and advise managers on addressing underperformance and implementing corrective actions.
    • Assist in drafting responses to information requests from dtic and Parliamentary Committees.
  5. Continuous Improvement & Learning:
    • Conduct evaluations to improve performance, accountability, learning, and decision-making.
    • Recommend improvements based on findings from evaluations and monitoring reports.
