Position Overview
As the Chief Risk Officer (E4), you will play a pivotal role in shaping Postbank’s risk management strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and mitigating risks that could impact the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of Postbank’s integrated risk management framework. You will identify, assess, and prioritize risks while ensuring that all strategies align with the bank’s goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment
- Develop and refine risk management strategies in alignment with the bank’s goals.
- Assist the Board in setting the bank’s risk appetite and monitoring performance against predefined thresholds.
- Create comprehensive qualitative and quantitative risk reporting to facilitate informed decision-making.
Financial Responsibilities
- Compile departmental budgets and forecasts to ensure financial compliance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance to prevent fines or penalties.
Operational Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of business plans for the risk department.
- Continuously update and improve the bank’s risk governance framework.
- Identify emerging risks and develop proactive responses.
- Monitor the full spectrum of risk types, including credit, market, operational, and financial risks.
- Develop the fraud prevention strategy and ensure the effectiveness of risk mitigation plans.
- Support the risk identification and quantification process across all bank functions.
People Management
- Establish a high-performance culture by setting measurable goals aligned with business objectives.
- Manage talent, foster career development, and build succession plans for key positions.
- Enhance staff morale and productivity through a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Risk Management, Auditing, Accounting, or Business Science.
- Registration with a professional body (e.g., IRMSA) would be advantageous.
Experience
- 8 to 10 years of post-qualification experience in a similar role within the banking sector.
Skills and Expertise
- Thorough understanding of banking practices and risk management.
- Extensive experience in managing risk departments and implementing governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical, project management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact at all levels, manage complex information, and make strategic decisions.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
