  • R444,036.00 per annum (plus benefits)
  • R479,847.00 per annum (plus benefits) for legally qualified candidates (in line with OSD dispensation)

As an Investigator at PPSA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that public complaints related to maladministration, undue delays, and other service delivery failures are properly investigated and addressed. The position involves conducting detailed investigations, preparing reports, applying alternative dispute resolution methods, and making recommendations that aim to rectify public service issues.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Investigations: Conduct investigations on cases of maladministration, undue delays, and service delivery failures using a variety of investigative techniques. Prepare comprehensive investigation plans for each allocated matter.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR): Apply ADR processes to resolve complaints effectively and amicably, ensuring a fair and just outcome for all parties involved.
  • Communication: Keep complainants informed of investigation progress and outcomes. Prepare investigation reports, letters, and memos to be submitted within set timelines.
  • Legal Interpretation and Research: Use your legal research and interpretation skills to analyze relevant legislation, policies, and case law to support investigation findings.
  • Case Management: Manage your case load efficiently, ensuring timely resolution of complaints and effective reporting.
  • Hearings: Initiate hearings, gather relevant information and evidence, and present findings in a clear, unbiased manner.
  • Quality Assurance: Produce high-quality investigation reports that adhere to PPSA’s service standards and governance principles.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for the Investigator position, you will need the following qualifications and experience:

  • Educational Qualifications: A degree or National Diploma in Law, Auditing, Accounting, Forensic Investigations, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in investigations, forensic accounting, forensic auditing, or forensic investigations.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of public service administration and the legislative framework governing PPSA’s mandate.
    • Proficiency in computer literacy, including case management systems (CMS) and other related systems.
    • Knowledge of auditing and investigation techniques, legal research, and the interpretation of legislation.
    • Negotiation, mediation, and conciliation skills (ADR).
    • Report writing and project management skills.
    • Forensic investigation skills will be an advantage.
    • Ability to handle complaints impartially and objectively, without fear, favor, or prejudice.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • A valid driver’s license.
    • Fluency in English and one or more other official languages relevant to the region.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple investigations efficiently.
