Key Responsibilities of the Debt Collector – Tax

The Debt Collector will be responsible for enforcing the collection of debt in the High Wealth Individuals (HWI) unit, managing outstanding returns, and ensuring compliance with various tax types. Your main tasks will include:

  • Debt Collection: Manage end-to-end debt collection processes, including final demands, court judgments, warrants of execution, and the placement of liens.
  • Legal & Financial Analysis: Interpret interpleader notices, handle business rescue processes, and manage the value chain of debt recovery procedures.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure the team’s activities meet targets within set quality, turnaround time, and productivity norms.
  • Service Delivery Enhancement: Continuously enhance service delivery and work towards achieving the SARS operational plan.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

To apply for the Debt Collector – Tax position, you must meet the following educational and experience requirements:

  • Minimum Qualification:
    • Relevant National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) with 2-3 years of experience in Tax Debt Collection or Tax Audit,
    • OR
    • Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with 5 years of experience in Tax Debt Collection or Tax Audit.
  • Required Functional Experience:
    • Experience in legal aspects of collections, including sequestrations, liquidations, and debt recovery processes.
    • Expertise in the analysis of financial statements, including ratio analysis and interpretation.
