Current Vacancies at Mangosuthu University of Technology

MUT is currently offering two exciting positions within its esteemed faculties, providing career growth opportunities for professionals passionate about higher education, research, and student development.


1. Retired Professor – Faculty of Applied and Health Sciences (Two-Year Contract)

MUT is looking for a Retired Professor to contribute to research and academic development within the Faculty of Applied and Health Sciences. This contract position allows experienced professionals to mentor academic staff and engage in collaborative research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and engage in projects aligned with faculty priorities.
  • Promote national and international collaborations in specialized fields.
  • Mentor academic staff pursuing higher qualifications.
  • Facilitate writing workshops and help in the development of peer-reviewed papers.
  • Publish co-authored articles in accredited journals.
  • Contribute to research grant acquisition and assist mentees with funding proposals.
  • Organize conferences, research days, and workshops.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Doctoral Degree in Social Sciences, Applied, or Health Sciences.
  • Full Professor or Associate Professor with at least 15 years of research experience.
  • A record of at least 15 accredited journal articles.
  • Experience in facilitating research workshops.

Salary: R500,000 per annum (basic salary).

2. Student Development Officer: AD02 (P7) – Department of Student Affairs

MUT is also hiring a Student Development Officer to support student governance, leadership development, and operational management within the Department of Student Affairs. This role is crucial for fostering an environment that supports student success and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic management of student governance and leadership development.
  • Offer operational management and financial management oversight.
  • Serve as a consultation resource for students and maintain communication with stakeholders.
  • Handle risk management and internal/external liaison efforts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A post-graduate degree in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Higher Education, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in student development or leadership in higher education.

Salary Range: R604,638.00 – R799,364.00 per annum (basic salary).
Benefits: 13th cheque, housing subsidy, pension, group life, medical aid, and study grant.
